Stunning filly Hiyaam leads the way to win the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.  Trained by Mike Price and ridden by Michael Dee.

The Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes in Sydney on Saturday brought Group One success for Brighthill Farm in more ways than one.

Not only was the impressive winner HIYAAM (High Chaparral – Mazarine) born and raised at Brighthill but also the eye catching third place runner ALOISIA (Azamour – Queen Boudiccia by Perfectly Ready)

Neither of these two fillies being successful at the highest level should come as any surprise. Hiyaam showed a lot of promise in the spring coming 3rd in the VRC Oaks and Aloisia being one of the stars in the spring, winning the Group 1 VRC Thousand Guineas and beating the colts in the Group 2 AAMI Vase.

Both fillies are very strong prospects for the AJC Oaks on April 14^th. 

Watching from the Waikato farm on Saturday had everyone there very excited, “We are very proud to produce such high-class horses from the farm, as we all know Sydney racing in the Autumn is some of the most competitive in the world.

Hiyaam’s Group1 win represents the second Group 1 winner produced on the farm for long-time client His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum who has his New Zealand breeding stock based at Brighthill Farm. The first Group 1 was South African Champion filly RUMYA who is now a broodmare in England.

Aloisia bred by trainers Jason and Kelly Price started the fireworks in the spring being rated the best 3YO filly in Australia at that time and is now coming back to her best Group 1 form, as she heads to meet Hiyaam again in the Oaks.

All this is part of the stellar group of horses that have come from Brighthill this year, particularly three-year-olds. Not only have Aloisia and Hiyaam come from the paddocks at Brighthill they have also produced the brilliant New Zealand three-year-old SCOTT BASE  by their resident stallion DALGHAR. Bred by Neven Botica owner of Dalghar he was the winner of both inaugural Karaka Millions 3YO Classic R.L. and the Wellington Guineas Group 2 with an impressive turn of foot making him one of the best three-year-olds in New Zealand this year.

These three top-class three-year-olds have come from a group of only 30 foals that were foaled and raised that year at Brighthill Farm.
