All Black Richie McCaw a Winner at the Races

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw's winning run continued last week.  This time it was the racehorse he part-owns, Snapshot, sealing victory at his first start with a dive right on the line at Te Aroha.

The royally bred four-year-old paid $7.10 as he pipped the favourite Wealth Prince in a 1200m maiden race, winning by a nose.

McCaw races the Stravinsky gelding out of former star mare Snap in partnership with former All Black Ali Williams, Breeder Henrietta Duchess of Bedford, Berri Schroder and Will Ropuse out of the Matamata stable of Graham Richardson.

"It's great for racing.  Everyone is important in this game" Richardson told NZ Racing Desk.

"Thatr was a gutsy effort and he's got no idea what he's doing.  He's got a lot of improvement to come and we've given him plenty of time.  He could go through the grades on that - onwards and upwards".

One of the best parts of owning and running a thoroughbred stud farm is following the offspring from foaling through to seeing them perform on the race track.  NZ Horse of the Year filly Snap has always been a special mare on the farm.

Below are a few of Snapshots early photos!

Born on 19th December 2010 at midday!

He was always a bit of a character!
