Another Stakes winner for Azamour & more black type for Dalghar's pedigree

The Alain de Royer-Dupre-trained Dolniya (Azamour) ran out the easy winner of the 2000m Listed Prix Melisande yesterday, the feature race on the Compiegne card, in the colours of HH Aga Khan.

The three-year-old was settled at the back of the pack, cruised along side her rivals round the home term and picked them off to hit the front two furlongs from home.  She was pushed out to draw a length and a half clear of Felcine (Duke Of Marmalade), who just held on by a nose
for second from Momo No Sekku (Leroidesanimaux).

Dolniya did not run at two and was a length second to the subsequent Gr.3 Prix de Royaumont winner Savanne (Rock Of Gibraltar) on her debut over eleven furlongs at Chantilly on debut at the end of April. Her only other start came in a conditions race over 13 furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte, which she won by two and a half lengths.

Bred by H H The Aga Khan's Studs S C, she is out of the placed Daltama (Indian Ridge), who is a half-sister to the Gr.1 winning Champions and sires Daylami (Doyoun) and Dalakhani (Darshaan), the Gr.3 winner Dalghar (Anabaa) and the Listed winner and dual Gr.1-placed Daymarti (Caerleon).

The second dam, Daltawa (Miswaki), was a Listed winner and was second in the Gr.3 Prix Penelope.
