2YO AZAGAL (Azamour) 2nd 300K UK Stakes Race

Azagal by Azamour from Brave Madam by Invincible Spirit has just been pipped on the post by 100-1 shot Morning Post in one of the richest races for 2YOs in the UK.  The Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance 300,000 pound 2YO Stakes 1400m, at Doncaster 10 hours ago!

Azagal has had 9 starts for 2 wins, and 3 placings.  She is trained by Tim Easterby, and came in to the race a hot favourite.  

Race report "Held up on the stands' side, chasing the leaders 3 furlongs out, led over 1 furlong out, headed just on the inside of the final furlong, but kept on gamely towards the finish."

There were 21 hopefuls in the race all racing for the pot of gold!  The winner Morning Post is by Acclamation, a high-class multiple sprinter at 2 & 4, with an excellent source of precocious and speedy 2YOs.

Doncaster Racecourse is based in Town Moor in South Yorkshire and is home to two of the world's oldest races, the Doncaster Cup, furst run in 1766 and the St. Leger which was inaugurated 10 years later and was the first Classic ever run!

The result of this race will put Azamour up in the top 2YO sires, waiting for confirmation of his status.
