Impressive win by 3YO Patapan gelding "To Be Sure" from the O'Reilly mare O'Really Impulsive, marked an exciting day for our resident sire Patapan.

To Be Sure trained by Donna Logan took an early lead in the Premier Horse Transport 1400m, good ground.  Ridden by Matthew Cameron he led the field to win by an impressive 3 length margin to the next horse Deane Martin by Keeper.

To Be Sure was a trial winner in September over 1000m Heavy, and then ran mid field over 1200m at the end of September.

To Be Sure is a half brother to Faraway Eyes (by Ustinov) who was 4th in the Windsor Park Taranaki Breeders' Stakes Group 3 last Saturday.  Faraway Eyes was also bred by Brighthill Farm and subsequently sold as a yearling.

Patapan was also represented by a 3YO filly Bassaleg from Lim's Xaar, ran a good second to Rayners Lane in the Maiden 1200m, in a smart time of 1:10.  Bassaleg has 3 placings from 4 starts, and the Natalie Tanner trained filly doesn't look far away from notching up her first win.

Perfectly Ready not to be outdone, featured strongly at the Whangarei meeting with Uno Five (Perfectly Ready gelding from Quizzy)  just being piped to the post, and beaten by a nose into 2nd over 1200m.

Ever reliable Perfect Katch,  has won or been placed 16 times was also 2nd over 1400m.
