First SH bred Azamour weanlings to sell at Karaka
10 May 2015Pictured above is Lot 38 the first southern hemisphere bred weanling by Azamour to go through the sale ring tomorrow morning. The sale commences at 11 am.
The weanling sale spotlight turns to Karaka on Monday for the 2015 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale with this proven vendor cataloguing a tip top draft which includes youngsters from the one and only New Zealand crop of foals by the Aga Khan's high class stallion Azamour (IRE).
A four-time Group I winner, Azamour was a Royal Ascot hero two years in a row winning the Group I Royal Ascot St James's Palace Stakes (1600m) at three and the Prince of Wales's Stakes (2100 m) at four in addition to his Group I victories in the Irish Champion Stakes (2000m) and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (2400m).
A Champion European Racehorse, Azamour shuttled for only one season to Brighthill Farm in New Zealand before his premature death in 2014 with the resulting foals now weanlings.
A son of the Northern Dancer stallion Night Shift, Azamour has left 23 stakes-winners including this year's Group I Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dolniya and has an impressive 5.8% stakes-winners to named foals.
Brighthill Farm will offer four of his weanlings - all beautiful leggy, athletic bays like their sire.
