Today’s top price was recorded early in the day when Lot
930 was purchased by Queensland agent John Foote for $160,000. The colt
offered by Brighthill Farm was the last Zabeel to go through the Karaka 2014
Sale, and potentially the last yearling by the great sire to be sold at
Out of Al Maher mare Al Shamekha, the colt is from the international family
of Group 1 winners Saddex (Sadler’s Wells) and Spinning World (Nureyev).
John Foote purchased the horse on behalf of his Queensland client Ian
McCauley who was delighted with the purchase.
“Ian is a very good client and a great supporter of the Karaka Sales and he
loves a good Zabeel,” commented Foote. “I’ve bought a number of horses over the
years with Ian including another Zabeel called Turner Bayou that won the
Queensland Cup last year.
“This colt is a good horse, he’s a strong Zabeel, well developed with a deep
girth and Ian
was determined to buy him"
